Asahi Maru

Asahi MaruThe bulk carrier Asahi Maru was built in 2017 by Sasebo Shipyard, implementing the most modern marine engineering developments. The post-Panamax type bulk carrier is designed with a wide beam and shallow draft. Asahi Maru is suitable to carry various cargoes such as grain, ore, coal and other bulk cargoes. The vessel has overall length of 229.00 m, moulded beam of 38.00 m, boards depth of 19.10 m and maximum draft of 13.50 m. With such dimensuions the ship has deadweight of 85,009 DWT and gross tonnage of 46,982 GRT. A ballast water treatment system is also equipped for protection of the marine environment prior to the enforcement of the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ship’s Ballast Water and Sediments.

The engineering on board of the post-Panamax bulk carrier is highly efficient and environmental. The main engine of Asahi Maru is MAN B&W 6S60ME-C8.2, which provides power for achieving of service speed of 14.5 kts. The propulsion performance has been improved with energy saving devices, including the stern fin and rudder bulb, and the electronically controlled main engine, which reduces fuel oil consumption. The high efficiently of fuel injection system is achieved through distribution of the heavy marine fuel with temperature higher than 130 degrees to the cylinders, which improves the combustion of fuel, reducing the harmful greengas emissions. The main engine and generator engine are compliant with Annex VI of the MARPOL 73/78 regulations (Tier II) to reduce NOx emissions for environmental safety.

The bulk carrier Asahi Maru is operating under the flag of Japan with IMO number 9747766, MMSI 431488000 and call sign 7JZN.
