Azzam is the world’s largest and most luxury private yacht, built in 2013 by Lurssen Bardenfleth shipyard in Germany. The vessel was designed to be comfortable, safe and really exciting, implementing the latest standards of marine engineering and shipbuilding. The owner of the super yacht Azzam is the president of the United Arab Emirates Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the assessment of its value is 600 million USD. The yacht has overall length of 180.00 m, moulded beam of 20.80 m and maximum draft of 4.30 m. The yacht has size of 2 football fields, deadweight of 1,380 DWT and gross tonnage of 13,136 GRT. Such large dimension give capacity for for 22 passengers, who will be served by more than 50 crew members. Azzam is impressive with its luxury and the great interior design. On board there is fitness, cinema and 11 luxury staterooms, each with own balcony and wonderful sea-view. Also on board has small submarine for boarding of VIP guests in full privacy. The interior design of the yacht was made by Christophe Leoni, who implemented really amazing style, but also introduced lot of entertainments for the guests, such as jacuzzi, restaurant and conference room.
The engineering of the super yacht Azzam is reliable, strong and highly efficient. The main engines are two Wartsila diesel units with total power of 47,000 hp plus two gas turbines with total output power of 47,000 hp. The propulsion system of the yacht Azzam is enough for the service speed of 32.0 kts. The yacht’s engineering is from new generation having lower consumption and using optimizations of the modern marine engineering. Moreover, the high speed on board is ensured by the powerful systems, lower resistant hull shape and high efficient propellers. The super yacht is driven by through four pump-jets, two of which are non-movable round water outlets in the middle of the stern, and two with thrust vectoring capabilities using moveable duct water outlets positioned on either side of the non-movable ones.
The whole hull and superstructure is made by steel and protected with armor by fire, which is important, when having some of the richest and most world’s most powerful people. Moreover, the yacht also has own missile defense system and own stealth technology.
