CSCL Mercury

CSCL MercuryCSCL Mercury is container carrier of China Shipping Container Line, one of eight container carriers of its kind. The vessel was built in 2011 by Samsung Shipbuilding and Heavy industries in South Korea, implementing the modern marine technologies and covering the latest IMO standards for safety and environmental operations at sea. The container ship CSCL Mercury has overall length of 366.10 m, moulded beam of 51.30 m and maximum draft of 15.00 m. The vessel is large and has improved capacity for more effective and profitable operations of ocean shipping. The deadweight of boxship CSCL Mercury is 155,374 DWT, while the gross tonnage is 150,853 GRT and net tonnage is 80,514 NT. With such dimensions the ship has capacity to carry 14,300 TEU or 10,500 FEU. The large capacity creates a lot of threats for stowage, but the ship is equipped with new and modern system, allows more flexible operations and easier creation of effective cargo plan.

The container carrier CSCL Mercury has reliable and strong engineering and propulsion system, which reduces and CO2 and NOx emissions, but also has high output power for higher speed of operations. The main engine on board of the boxship is MAN B&W 12K98MC-C, which has output power of 96,875 hp. Such power is enough for the vessel to operate with service speed of 25.5 kts, while the maximum speed under ballast exceeds 27.0 kts. The modern engineering and new generation fuel injection system distributes the oil to cylinders at high temperature, which makes more effecting combustion of fuel with lower gas emissions.

The boxship CSCL Mercury is operating under the flag of Hong Kong and was deployed on China Shipping’s AEX-7 loop connecting Asia and Europe. The vessel has IMO number 9467275, MMSI 477229400 and call sign VRIQ7.
