Drive Green Highway

Drive Green HighwayThe car carrier Drive Green Highway is one of the most environment-friendly vessel built in 2016, implementing the modern marine engineering technologies. The vessel was built in Ariake shipyard of Japan Marine United, integrating advanced energy efficient technologies and design improvements to reduce its impact on the environment. The vehicle carrier has overall length of 200.00 m, moulded beam of 37.50 m and maximum draft of 9.80 m. The deadweight of the ship is 20,034 DWT, the gross tonnage is 76,387 GRT and the net tonnage is 22,917 NT. With such tonnage and dimensions, Drive Green Highway has capacity to carry 7,550 vehicles, being highly efficient for the shipowner with optimized hull form and special paint to reduce the water resistance.

The engineering on board of the car carrier Drive Green Highway is reliable and powerful, as main engine is MAN-B&W 7S60ME-C8, which has total output power of 22,651 hp. Such power is enough for the vessel to operate with service speed of 20.0 kts, while the maximum one exceeds 21.5 kts. In addition more than 900 of Solar Frontier’s CIS solar panels were installed on the top deck, which are totaling 150 kilowatt-peak of electricity generating capacity. The modules generate higher electricity yield (kilowatt-hours per kilowatt-peak) than crystalline silicon solar panels in real world conditions. Their strength in hot environments and salt-mist environments, such as at sea, will support Drive Green Highway as it ships cargo around the world. Combining the advantages of its design and technology improvements, Drive Green Highway emits 25% less carbon-dioxide (CO2), 50% less nitrogen-oxide (NOx) and 90% less sulfur-oxide (SOx) per vehicle transported. The vessel’s engineering is among the most environment and efficient in the modern maritime transport, which brought the car carrier Drive Green Highway the “Ship of the Year 2016” award.

The car carrier Drive Green Highway is operating under the flag of Panama in the fleet of Japanese shipping operator K Line. The vessel has IMO number 9728069, MMSI 374438000 and call sign 3FTM8.
