Federal Takase

Federal TakaseFederal Takase is modern Handymax bulk carrier, which was built in 2016 by Oshima Shipbuilding in Japan. The ship is implementing the most modern marine engineering developments and cover the latest IMO standards. The bulk carrier Federal Takase has overall length of 189.99 m, while the length between perpendiculars is 185.79 m. The beam is 32.26 m, the boards depth is 17.87 m and maximum draft is 12.60 m. The deadweight of the ship is 55,178 DWT and the gross tonnage is 31,584 GRT. The vessel has five holds, all of which have wide opening type hatch covers to facilitate cargo-handling efficiency and total cargo capacity of 71,177 cbm. Federal Takase is suitable to carry various cargoes, such as grain, ore, coal, hot coils, dangerous products, and other bulk cargoes.

The bulk carrier has been designed according to ClassNK’s ice class notation IC-IS for vessels trading in ice. Moreover, the requirements of notation IB-IS are additionally applied to the vessel for reinforcement of the forward region of the ice belt of the hull and propeller strength. Federal Takase is also provided with measures for low temperature operation during ice navigation. A set of Advanced Flipper-Fins, Rudder bulb, low friction paint and an electronically controlled engine are installed to improve the fuel consumption.

The engineering on board of the cargo ship is reliable and powerful. The main engine is Kawasaki MAN B&W 6S50ME-B9.3, which has output power of 9,735 hp at 99 rpm. Such power is enough for the vessel to operate with service speed of 14.3 kts, while the maximum speed achieved during sea trials exceed 16.0 kts. The special injection fuel system allows more effectively contribution of fuel to engine cylinders and better combustion.

The Seaworthy Bow that demonstrates excellent seaworthiness is also adopted to maintain speed performance under rough weather conditions. The bulk carrier Federal Takase complies with ClassNK’s environmental protection notations, such as EA+BILGE, GW. In addition, IMO recycling of ships is considered, and a ballast water treatment system is installed.

The bulk carrier Federal Takase is operating under the flag of Marshall Islands with IMO number 9658989, MMSI 538006467 and call sign V7NJ9.
