Goliath

Goliath shipGoliath is Newcastlemax bulk carrier, owned and operated by the Greek shipping company Star Bulk. The vessel was built in 2015 by Cosco Nantong Shipyard in China, according to the latest IMO standards and implementing the most modern technologies in marine engineering. The dimensions of the ship are the largest being able to enter the port of Newcastle, featuring with overall length of 300.00 m, moulded beam of 50.00 m and maximum draft of 18.42 m. The vessel has deadweight of 209,537 DWT and gross tonnage of 107,761 GRT. The bulk carrier Goliath has nine cargo holds with total gran capacity for 227,362 cbm. The large capacity and Newcastlemax dimensions ensure the higher efficiency and profitability of the cargo ship, as well as the lower costs per operations. The bulk carrier Goliath implements the most modern technologies of shipbuilding and covers all the international standards of environmental operations. Moreover, the vessel is flexible for transportation of different types of dry bulk cargo.

The Newcastlemax bulk carrier Goliath implements the most modern propulsion engineering, being driven by two-stroke main engine CSSC MAN B&W 6G70ME-C9.2 Tier II, which has total output of 20,734 hp at 66 rpm. The engine can run either heavy fuel oil (HFO) or liquid natural gas (LNG), equipped with ME-GI injection system. The dual fuel operation requires the injection of first pilot fuel (to start the combustion) and then gas fuel into the combustion chamber, using different types of valves for the injection of gas and pilot fuel. Although few technical differences separate fuel oil and gas burning engines, the ME-GI engine provides optimal fuel flexibility. Such powerful and high-efficient engineering system allows the bulk carrier Goliath to operate 11.5 kts, while the maximum speed under ballast is 12.5 kts. The vessel is equipped with filters for zero sulfur emissions and reducing the harmful CO2 green gasses. The engineering of the bulk carrier implements the most modern technologies and reduces the fuel consumption with 15% in comparison with older generation vessels.

The bulk carrier Goliath is owned and managed by the Greek shipping company Star Bulk, operating under the flag of Cyprus. The vessel has IMO number 9735153, MMSI 210246000 and call sign 5BLG4.
