MOL Triumph

MOL TriumphMOL Triumph is the world’s largest container carrier, built in March 2017 by Samsung Heavy Industries in their shipyard in Busan, South Korea. The vessel is the first 20,000 TEU-class container ship of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines and flagship of the company. She was constructed according to the latest IMO standards, implementing the most modern marine engineering for efficiency and fuel saving. The overall length of the carrier MOL Triumph is 400.00 m, the width is 58.80 m, boards depth of 32.80 m and the maximum draft is 16.00 m. The ship has deadweight of 192,672 DWT and maximum capacity to carry 20,170 TEU. The high efficiency of the boxship MOL Triumph is achieved through improved hull shape, which highly increases the cargo capacity on main deck without worsening the principle particulars and dynamic characteristics. The special hull shape provides better streamline and lower water resistance, while the special low friction underwater paint reduces the overgrowth.

The engineering of the world’s largest container carrier MOL Triumph is powerful and reliable, in line with the eco-sailing initiative of MOL. The main engine is MAN B&W G95ME-C9.2-TII, which has maximum output power of 110,550 hp. The vessel is equipped with various new sustainable technologies to provide more efficient fuel consumption and improved environmental performance. MOL Triumph has various highly advanced energy-saving technologies including low friction underwater paint, high efficiency propeller and rudder, Savor Stator as a stream fin on the hull body, and an optimized fine hull form which together can further reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions per container moved by about 25-30%. Additionally, the vessel has also been designed with the retrofit option to convert to LNG fueled ship in view of the implementation of the International Maritime Organization’s new regulation to limit SOx emission in marine fuels which will come into effect in 2020.

The world’s largest container ship MOL Triumph is operating under IMO number 9769271, MMSI 538007360 and call sign V7FQ8. The ship will be deployed to THE Alliance’s Asia to Europe trade via the FE2 service of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines.
