Nord Chesapeake

Nord Chesapeake bulk carrierNord Chesapeake is Supramax bulk carrier, built in 2016 by Sanoyas Mizushima Shipyard in Japan, achieving large deadweight and highest fuel efficiency for a vessel below 200.00 m in length. The ship implements the most modern marine engineering technologies and complies with latest IMO standards. The overall length of the bulk carrier Nord Chesapeake is 199.99 m, the moulded beam is 32.24 m, boards depth is 18.38 m and the maximum draft is 12.90 m. The deadweight of the vessel is 60,447 DWT and the gross tonnage is 34,164 GRT. The optimized hull form to improve the performance under actual sea conditions contributes to better overall performance, with less fuel consumption and low exhaust emissions. The bulk carrier Nord Chesapeake has five cargo holds with maximized hatch openings to load various cargoes such as grain, ore, coal, hot coils and steel pipes. The total cargo capacity of the vessel is 77,067 cbm. The cargoes can be handled with four 31t deck cranes. Access trunks provided between the upper deck and double bottom can improve maintenance work even under the laden condition.

The bulk carrier Nord Chesapeake has reliable and powerful engineering, which has increased propulsion efficiency. The main engine is low-speed and long-stroke electronically controlled MAN B&W 6G50ME-B9.3, which has total output power of 10,400 hp. The engineering features with high-efficiency propeller, which allows bulker to operate with service speed of 14.3 kts, while the maximum speed under ballast exceeds 16.0 kts. Considering eco-friendly features, various measures have been taken for environmental operations. The main engine is complying with the NOx emission Tier II limit to avoid air pollution, but also the dedicated low sulphur diesel oil tank allows navigation in ECAs (Emission Control Areas). The fuel oil tank protection is installed during construction to prevent from oil leakage. The ship is also compliant with Ballast Water Management convention.

The bulk carrier Nord Chesapeake operates under the flag of Panama with IMO number 9767778, MMSI 355256000 and call sign 3FYO7.
