Costa Diadema is luxury Dream-class cruise ship, operated by Italian line Costa Crociere. The vessel was built in 2014 according to the latest standards of marine engineering by Fincantieri shipyard with yard number 6203 in Trieste, Italy. Costa Diadema is the largest vessel operating under the Italian flag and currently Costa Crociere’s flagship. The cruise vessel has overall length of 305.70 m, while the length between perpendiculars is 271.97 m. The moulded beam of the ship is 50.00 m, the board’s depth is 11.20 m and maximum draft is 8.50 m. The deadweight of Costa Diadema is 10,250 DWT, the gross tonnage is 133,019 GRT and the net tonnage is 121,694 NT. The cruise ship Costa Diadema has four main engines Wartsila 12V46 with total output power of 101,380 hp at 139 rpm. The vessel is driven by two propellers ELM-Ac 12S005, having maximum speed of 22.4 kts. The ship’s engineering and propulsion system are developed to improve power and reduce the harmful emissions. The shipbuilders installed filters for zero sulfur emissions, as well as others to reduce the CO2 emissions, making the vessel more environment. The marine engineering is also developed to improve power and reduce the fuel consumption. The ship’s hull in combination with the main engine and propulsion system, achieve reduction of of fuel consumption of more than 15%.
