MOL Truth is one of the newest megacontainer carriers of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines. The vessel was built in 2017 by Imabari Shipbuilding in their new dock in Marugame yard. MOL Truth has overall length of 400.00 m, moulded beam of 58.50 m and boards depth of 16.00 m. The deadweight of the vessel is 189,766 DWT and the gross tonnage is 210,691 GRT. The container ship can load containers in 11 tiers and 23 rows on the upper deck, having total cargo capacity for 20,182 TEU. The large capacity of the ship results in better efficiency and profitability, but also in lower CO2 emission per container by about 20% compared with the 14,000 TEU-class container carrier in service at present. The hull plate thickness is 80 mm, which is 5 mm thinner than those used in the same type of container carrier, but the hull strength has been ensured with a special design.
The container ship has reliable and powerful engineering, which provides lower CO2 emission and high fuel efficiently. The main engine of MOL Truth is two-stroke MAN B&W 11G95ME-C9.5, which has total output power of 103,000 hp at 95 rpm. Such high power allows the vessels to operated with service speed of 17.3 kts, while maximum achieved during speed trials and under ballast exceeds 21.0 kts. The ship is equipped with four MAN L32/40 auxiliary engines. Two of four electric generators use an exhaust gas economizer that permits recovery of heat energy from exhaust gas and save fuel, and some auxiliary equipment such as pumps employ an inverter control system to adapt to ship operation conditions, and to save electric power and/or fuel.
The container ship MOL Truth also copes with the strict SOx (sulfur oxide) regulations in 2020. The vessel’s LNG fuel tanks can be arranged at the fore side of the engine room, and design to install a scrubber has also been completed.
MOL Truth is operating The Alliance Asia and Europe route FE2 under the flag of Panama. The vessel has IMO number 9773210, MMSI 356984000 and call sign 3FBJ9.
